It is incredibly lame to have the outcome of an extremely lengthy, hard-fought battle where one side manages, after many hours, to force the retreat of the other side completely reversed at the last minute because Retreating Side has a West Coast heavy-hitter log on, and all the East Coast heavy-hitters are already exhausted and have to go to bed.

Just saying.

I'm kinda torn, if we're talking about Grimlock. He's a very solid, responsible, personable MUSHer. But yeah. Unbalancing character with high IC-Active requirements. He may actually respond well to a polite 'not this time' response to his request to join scenes.

I wouldn't mind winning a fight that isn't thrown.

Heck, at this point I wouldn't mind dodging once. Or actually hitting once. :(

Oh, I do want to make it clear, I'm rather fond of Grimlock, all in all. The player, that is. And technically, he was just behaving in a manner that's IC for him: that is, within rounds of him arriving on the scene, all the Decepticons were gone, so of course he's going to declare himself the winner. The problem is, that ending not only invalidates the entire previous battle, but kind of makes all the Autobot RP revolving around planning the attack, developing the additive, delivering the additive to enough of the tanks to make it worthwhile in the face of overwhelming forces, etc. etc, completely moot. So I'm not only disappointed on behalf of my Decepticon alt, who was involved in the battle itself, but my Autobot alt, who was involved in so much of the scene's planning and prep.

But... I didn't say anything, because I was worried about coming off as a whiner/sore loser. I mean, there were two admin right there on the scene, (well, three, but two tp staff) and neither of them said anything, not even when I paged one and said, "You know, that's kind of a lame resolution to the whole thing," so I feel like the problem must be all in my mind, and why make waves, you know? Might as well come here to vent.

*hugs* I am boggled as to why the new system seems to hate you so. :(

This is why I wonder at the logic of forcing various extremely swingy characters to be IC all the time.

Also. *hugs.*

Situation: Thanks to the new code we now have a 'combat' flag attached to people, to clearly identify when people are involved in combat or not.

Question: What if hours IC without a combat flag on you counted as more (say, 1.5x) than with one? While people who still love to type +attack =punch can still get the same amount of thrills, it also encourages tanks to more easily make their times without having to repeatedly jump up and down on the enemy faction's collective heads. I guess it then actively discourages combat RP, so I guess no system is perfect.

What do you think?

I like that idea, and think you should bring it up on the Suggestions board. But you may want to wait until Luna gets back from Greece and get her feedback first.

I really like Grimlock's player, we seem to have hit it off as we joined 2k5 at the same time. But he does have his lapses in what is and isn't 'okay'. I think you're right and if someone said "Not this time", he would understand.

I'm not saying this is a major problem with the dude and that he's a damn dirty twink, just that he's not perfect (like we all are) and makes mistakes on occasion.

Well, like I said, considering neither I nor anyone else actually said anything to him (and I gave my reasoning for not doing so) I'm not going to hold it against him, or, well, anyone, really.

I'm just vaguely disappointed with the wrap-up, and am using my LJ as a place to air out. As usual. :)
