At the end of the Cybertron series, the Autobots are re-initiating the Spacebridge project. Seen in the right light, this is a far more ominous move than the cartoon suggests.

The first time Vector Prime ever explains how the Cyber Keys work to the Autobots, he claims that they are able to "turn any planet into a mirror image of Cybertron." This almost makes them sound akin to the Key to Vector Sigma! When he explains what they do to the children, however, he changes his story almost completely. Funny, that.

Supposition: the Spacebridge project was, in fact, one of conquest. Easier to hold together an empire if you've got good roads, after all. Just ask the Romans.

Further Supposition: if you were to revisit that universe a hundred years or so after the ending of the Cybertron series, you'd find that the human race has been turned into Transformers.

This is ominous, but... not entirely uncool.

So, with that question in mind, I ask you all this: what's your alternate mode?

I'm a robot archaeopteryx. For one, that was one of my first ever OCs, back when I was a little girl and watching G1 for the first time. For two, like the G1 Dinobots, I would still be able to eat fish, because fish is nummy.

So what about you?
slyjinks: (Default)
This episode makes it very clear that the Dinobots are still being kept in the closet at this point in time, only letting them out when they need the Dinobots to go smash the Decepticons. Which makes it rather unshocking when Grimlock is surly over being given orders. Wheeljack, in response to Grimlock's obstinence, grumbles, "I have got to work on their personality circuits!"

Conclusions drawn:
1) It really is no wonder that the Dinobots like Rodimus Prime so much better. In his time, they spend their time either fishing or actually hanging out with the other Autobots (Grimlock often doing the second more or less by himself).

2) Wheeljack's reaction to them is pretty strong canon evidence against the, "Wheeljack is a loving and caring father" fanon mindset.

3) Wheeljack's reaction is also strong canon evidence against the, "Wheeljack didn't program the Dinobots" fanon idea.

I'm not yet done with the 28 Fleetwinds (I have five claimed ones left, but I've always intended to go through and do the unclaimed ones when I was done), but I figured I'd go ahead and put this up, anyway.

Expect these to get done at the same pace the Fleetwinds have been getting done - that is, glacially. Also, I'll probably jump between the three memes.

Rodimus will (probably) stictly be Marvel Rodimus (or possibly Deadzone Rodimus, who is transplanted Marvel Rodimus). I may do cartoon, Marvel, or Deadzone Kup. Or possibly even Coalition Relics Kup.

As usual with these, you can specify other characters or circumstances or stuff, but there are characters out there that I'm absolutely incapable of writing, and if you happen to ping on one of these, I reserve the right to either seek assistance or beg your forgiveness while I leave out the guest star.

Righto. Largely just to let people know I'm not dead, I'll post arts.

I'm more amused than I should be by the Marvel version of Arcee. While comic books often... enhance certain feminine attributes, Marvel's version of Arcee is flat. Flatter than her cartoon counterpart. Flatter than most of the male Transformers. Flatter, indeed, then any other version of Arcee that's popped up since. So, randomly, I decided to sketch up some cheesecake poses of her to see if she can still be sexy. Well, you know. For a robot in candy-pink and white. Right away I ran into problems with her poses, though, because her those bits that stick up... they're not attached to her back behind her shoulders, as they are in just about every other version of Arcee out there, but they're on her shoulders/part of her arms, and twist when she moves her arms. Kind of a pain for some of these postes!

Oh well. At least she has girly-girl legs.

Righto. I just got approved for Rodimus Prime on Deadzone, so of course I made a few RP (which, in this case, stands for role-play or Rodimus Prime - they bth work!) icons to switch out between on the bboard. Since icons that fit there also fit here, I'm uploading them here as well. All the pictures are from Marvel comics because, well, I'm playing Marvel Rodimus.

The facepalm one and goggles one are equivilents to Luna's Scourge facepalm and goggles icons. The last one is actually Primus. See, I always knew that Marvel Primus looked like Rodimus anytime they showed him in flashback and stuff, but to me, the big old Primus head in the center of Cybertron never looked particularly like him. Until Luna pointed out the helmet design. So I grabbed it, photoshopped out all the random colors at the bottom of his face, and changed all the yellows in the picture to red, and there we have it. Even big ol' Primus head inna middle of Cybertron looks like Rodimus! (Or Rodimus looks like Primus, if you want more in-universe accuracy).

If you want them, grab them. If you don't want to credit to me, at least credit to Marvel.

As a random side note, the more I rewatch old cartoons or read old comics with Optimus Prime, the more I like Rodimus. Funny how that works... ¬_¬

Deadzone related ficbit posted today in the (where else?) Deadzone comm. Set during the theoretical "re-aging" plot that oft gets discussed in chat. Rodimus Prime makes a very disconcerting discovery concerning young Kup's behavior. Slash, but nothing explicit. Apologies for those getting doublespammed, and remember that this is not a complete fic - just a scene.

Link to fic, yay.

People who call Rodimus the angsty one have never read the comics.

Seriously.

Kup lay facedown and offline next to the water's edge for only a short while, but when he booted up he took a moment to wonder why he had shut off to begin with. That fall shouldn't have done it... that dunking shouldn't have done it... his diagnostics showed nothing wrong with his internal systems (in fact, a few minor but persistent faults seemed to have mysteriously cleared), but he still couldn't shake the feeling that something was off.

Well, his optics were off, for one thing. He activated them and began to push himself up, spotting his right arm in the process. That's when he paused again. At first he thought he was still wet, but that wasn't enough explanation. He was darker; his usual faded green-gray had deepened into a rich, forest green. The color was more consistent, too - where before he had sported several different shades of green-grey or blue-grey or just plain grey, now he was deep green all over, except for a few accents in a brilliant, electric blue-green. And he gleamed. It wasn't a trick of the water. His paint now shined with a freshly waxed look so bright it almost glowed.

Confusion gave way to a faint smile of delight on a face whose seams now fell in a distinctly different pattern, and Kup pushed himself back onto his knees so as to examine the rest of him. The new paint job applied to his whole body, and on his chest, he could see that the lighter accents were even more dramatic than he had originally thought. The entire edge of what would be his alternate mode's front end was the brighter color, and coming off of it was an intense, complicated, electric design that danced its way up along his edges and crowded in close to frame his now-brighter Autobot symbol. Looking down, he noticed similar designs running down either leg, and his faint smile turned into a wide grin.

Oh, he should have been worried. He knew that. Sudden, mysterious new paint jobs had already proven themselves to be a Bad Thing since his arrival in this strange new universe. But even when he tried, he just couldn't bring himself to be bothered. The thought that bubbled into his head was, That was then, and this is now. Live in the now, I always say. Except he didn't. Except, well, he felt like maybe he should. It felt... right.

The next thought to wander through his head came when he finally stood completely upright, and looked down once more to view his new paint job. It was this thought that he actually took the time to voice aloud. "Wow!" he said in a voice that had somehow lost its gruffness, lost its age, lost, even, much of its maturity. "I look slick!"

These are not really supposed to be pictures of the "real" young Kup from the good old days back on Cybetron, but the back-story is kind of convoluted. Because this is my blog, I'll tell it anyway.

I've edited through Final Stroke and have finally posted the entire thing to ff.net. Now, this is not to say it's perfect - it's still just my own edits, plus those suggestions that have come from the feedback I got while it was a WIP on this blog. Now I'm going to go on a feedback whoring spree, and mention it, oh... here, [livejournal.com profile] transficsation, the Cell, the Art and Fiction board of Deadzone. So if you see me in any of those places, just ignore me (well, okay. If you do read it, I'd appreciate feedback somewhere, if I haven't heard from you already, but not everywhere).

So here is Deadzone Long Haul in alt mode. Now, to cut off the two questions I anticipate:

"But he doesn't look anything like his War Within self?" and, "But there's no way he can transform into that?"

I don't have War Within with me, and have no intention of trying that style or level of detail, anyway. For this, I had only the G1 treatment of Cybertronian alt modes in mind: rounded, recognizable, and generally impossible for their robot modes to actually transform into. My primary references were, consequently, Long Haul's Earth alt mode and Kup's alt mode (as I believe Kup to be a Cybertronian pick-up truck, and thus would have some simularities in build). Inked with Sharpies. >_> And you can see clearly why I don't often ink.

So for the hell of it, last night Luna and I started talking over what jobs/roles/powers/genders our current Deadzone characters would have if they were, for some reason, in on her whole Transformers-as-Superheros thing.

Xaaron, it has been decided, will be a female politician. She is running for president. Optimus Prime does not approve. And then the following snippet of Xaaron-rant popped into my head:

Don't interferre with the human's politics? Optimus! In case you've failed to notice, we're human! I'm human! This is not just their world anymore, it's ours, and I have as much right to participate in Earth politics now as I did in Autobot politics back on Cybertron! For all I know, I'm going to spawn, grow old, and die on this planet as a member of this species, and if that's the case, I'll be damned if I leave it in the same state it's in right now.
slyjinks: (BOOM! Bwahahahaha!)
There are some areas of the Transformers fandom that just should not be explored.

What sort of noises Warpath and Powerglide would make while in the heat of passion is one of those areas.

I was reading through some of the old Marvel G1 Transformer comics today when I realized something amusing: Booster Gold and Nightbeat look a lot alike.

Seriously. )

It's like, if you wanted to kitbash an Autobot version of Booster Gold, you would start with a Nightbeat toy...

...and name the headmaster-bit Skeets. And you're done.

So, what does Nightbeat himself have to say about the uncanny resemblance?

"Truth is revealed in the smallest detail."

Indeed it is, Nightbeat. Indeed it is.

Because I like posting my applications. Because I'm weird. I skipped right to the character information. Warning: I'm long winded in this one. I want potential players to know that I would generally not expect their applications to be this long. What can I say? Kup is rambly.

So long I need a cut! )

May Primus have mercy on my soul. :(
